Will I Have to Wait Forever?

This was intended as a song lyric though I never put it to music. It was written during the dark days of struggle I described in my Memorial Day post. Hope you like it.

Will I Have to Wait Forever?

Every time this happens

My faith gets a little bit weaker

And the grip I held so tight

Slips a little bit looser

~

We’ve been shook up and down

Like a prize bull fighter

Who stakes it all on the step

Of the beast’s wild nature

~

He won’t last too long

Before a clown is his savior

I’d like to see a clown now

Will I have to wait forever?

~

I just want someone

To tell me it’s okay

That life will go on

That we’ll find a way

~

Every time this happens

What I believe starts retreating

And the dreams I’ve dreamed up

Take another beating

~

We’ve been knocked all around

Like a champion prize fighter

Who stakes it all on the step

Of a foe much lighter

~

He won’t last too long

Before a bell is his savior

I’d like to hear a bell now

Will I have to wait forever?

~

I just want someone

To tell me it’s okay

That life will go on

That we’ll find a way

~

I just want someone

To hold me though the night

To believe against all odds

That all will be made right

Will I have to wait forever?

Revved up? Let it out, man!
