Thanks Rob! I recently did Strengths Finder, too, at work. Some of my strengths lend themselves to writing like belief (this post, especially) and context which often comes in handy when trying to explain something. I was definitely encouraged by finding what my strengths really are. I love that the foundational idea of the book is essentially a Biblical one. The body of Christ has many people with many different gifts and thrives when people exercise them.

Thanks for the comment!

Hey Eric,
This is a good post. I am going to guess that one of your strenghts involves communication or writing, because this is a well-written blog entry. There's a lot to be explored here.

Last year, our team here went through Strength Finders as well, and I've been thinking about some of those things ever since. I've been realizing a couple of things: one, we need to be honest with ourselves about what our real talents and gifts from God are, and two, faithfulness as manifested in an active love for Him and others and "doing everything as unto the Lord" counts for a lot.

Wish I could be a bit more articulate now, but the brain doesn't seem to be fully engaged. Keep up the good work.

Agreed on the difference between democracy and our republic. Chesterton's point is self rule is necessary which is the essence of our system of government.

"Democracy." What does he mean by that word? Regardless of how Chesterton felt about it, our Founders derided "democracy" as "mob rule." A Republic is what we received from our foudners, and Republicanism is what I prefer.

A huge problem in our day is that our system has in large measure been recast as a democracy to the extent that even many of those who believe in a Republic use the language of "democracy." Differentiating between the two is essential for liberty.

Hm. Do I detect some sarcasm, Baxter? Maybe. That's okay. I'm already looking forward to seeing the field of candidates that emerges by the end of the year. No doubt there will be surprises! My bet right now: Palin doesn't run because there will be plenty of other solid conservatives she can support. She campaigns hard for the GOP nominee and ends up Secretary of Energy.

Yes. Very presidential. I say this with true and genuine sincerity: I really hope that she gets the conservative nomination for POTUS.

As the leader of the "Free World", President Obama has to be very meticulous about everything he says. He has to do this because every day groups are looking for new reasons to hate him. The fact that he even has to "prove" he is a Christian and not a Muslim is the epicenter of ignorance, and speaks volumes about the mental state of the nation.
Though I could rant and rave and belittle for several paragraphs, I will just answer the question.

Yes. His answer was just fine.
