“Breakthrough” Gives Unions Special Deal

Looks like the unions got just what they wanted from BO.

“The breakthrough announced Thursday was a biproduct of the previous days talks: a deal on so-called “Cadillac” insurance plans. The White House and top union leaders heralded the agreement, which shields all union workers for five years from significant taxes on health benefit packages that non-union workers will face starting in 2013.”

So dues payers won’t have to pay taxes on their health plans but you and I will. Not that it’s surprising.

    Two things:

    1. The bribery, er, “special deals” that has gone on in order to elicit votes for this bill is absolutely disgusting. But predictable. We are, after all, talking about the Left.

    2. The union leaders are morons. Much like the idiots who took out ARMs to buy their houses not caring (or thinking) about the inevitable increase in interest rate, these union leaders have garnered their followers a mere few years of exemption… I can’t wait til these people feel the pinch.

Union leaders, no doubt, are counting on being able to put more pressure on Dem leaders several years from now. It is not hard to imagine BO needing cash for his 2012 campaign. Who are his largest supporters? Unions. He needs them and if he won’t hesitate to sign this bill he won’t hesitate to sign future exemptions for unions.
