Under Saturday’s Cloak
How does it feel to know your health is in the hands of two Democrat Senators? Harry Reid scheduled the health care vote for today. Notice it is a “rare Saturday session.” Nancy Pelosi passed her bill under Saturday’s cloak also. Ask yourself, why would they do that? It seems our elected representatives think we won’t notice on Saturday. Yet this may be the most consequential bill passed by Congress since the Patriot Act in 2001 which will change our country socially, economically, and fundamentally. Pray for wisdom to prevail upon just one Senator.
MID-AFTERNOON UPDATE: So much for that idea. The last holdout, Branch Lincoln (D-AR) is in. I don’t think there ever was any genuine doubt about this vote even though it has been billed as crucial. It’s the next vote that will be more important. Wishy-washy senators of the moderate persuasion do not like to look as if they are unwilling to debate. Even Sen. Lincoln said she will have problems if the “public option” is in the final bill. By then, attempts at emendation will show just how determined the Reid and his posse of left-wing ideologues are to pass something. I predict they will not compromise the “public option” but will on the abortion amendment.
