Here are some of the most interesting articles on the web:
- First up, Hoffman “unconcedes” the race in NY-23. It is by no means a sure thing he will win but now looks a lot closer. This race gets more and more interesting. Even if he doesn’t win he may have a chance a year from now.
- BO just can’t win. Now, Der Spiegel is ticked at BO for not keeping his word on global warming. You know things are going badly when even the Europeans feel cheated.
- The Japanese bowing incident created quite a stir over the weekend. Fox had a piece on the usual protocol. Turns out it’s not at all normal for presidents to bow to foreign dignitaries even if they are trying to be polite. Wesley Pruden explained why the whole thing is cringe worthy in the Washington Times.
- Two good ones from the Weekly Standard this week. Bill Kristol speculates on the political consequences for the Dems if the civil trials of the thugs at Guantanamo actually come to pass. He thinks they have nothing to gain from it. Meanwhile, James Piereson writes about the similarities between the aftermath of the JFK assassination and the Ft. Hood shootings. Namely, the media tried to cover up the real motives of the shooters. Meanwhile, Christians are grappling with a response.
- Also from Christianity Today is this article on Christ-Centered preaching. The author criticizes some of the problems with seeing Jesus in every OT story allegorically. That’s a stretch. Maybe it’s better called “Gospel-centered preaching.” God’s grace permeates everything in the OT if you know what to look for.
- Is it too early to start looking for nominees for the Republican Party for 2012? David Brooks suggests John Thune of South Dakota. Sarah Palin, for her part, is keeping quiet on her intentions. Good idea while she promotes her book.
