More Reaction to Polanski Arrest

This LA Times piece by Steve Lopez is spot on. Warning: This article is not for the faint of heart. Lopez uses the original transcripts of the Polanski grand jury testimony to illustrate just how horrific his crime was. Some of the testimony is very graphic. It’s hard to believe, given the evidence and Mr. Polanski’s admission these things are true, that anyone would actually defend this man. Whoopi Goldberg is clearly out to lunch with her assertion it “wasn’t rape-rape.” The grand jury testimony makes clear the girl was scared of the man and asked him to stop multiple times. What exactly would Whoopi consider “rape-rape?”
